Monday Again
Gloria and I flew into Halifax on Saturday evening from our cruise vacation last week. Great few days of R&R and glad to be back on task for the Kingdom. Thanks for understanding that It’s Monday Again is a bit abbreviated this week.
Yesterday I was honoured to represent the tribe and bring greetings/remarks at the 20th anniversary of Cornerstone Wesleyan in Hammonds Plains. Denn and Angela Guptill planted the church 20 years ago and Denn continues to serve as Lead Pastor. A congregation of 360 were present in their two services to celebrate the past and look to the future. All three levels of government were represented – Municipal, Provincial and Federal – and commended Denn and Cornerstone for their positive presence in the community. Denn’s message was passionate and on point. Karen Wickwire, who was present on the opening service in 1995 and continues to be very involved in the ministry of the church, was honoured for her consistent and faithful service. Great day. Congrats and PTL!
Easter 2015 Atlantic District Overview
At the instruction of our General Superintendent, we collected data from Easter weekend 2015 in the following categories:
Weekend attendance – the grand total of attendance at any/all Easter weekend events in the church.
Primary Service attendance – the total attendance at primary services which would be Sunday AM in most cases but would also include Sat PM services where such are held.
Conversions and baptisms numbers are as reported by the churches.
Overall totals will appear next week and there could be minor adjustments in the following as we are still waiting on numbers from just a few stragglers:).
Summary Notes:
- Eighty one made professions of faith.
- Thirty three were baptized.
- Two babies were dedicated.
- Two churches reported weekend attendance exceeding 1500.
- Seven churches reported weekend attendance exceeding 500.
- Eleven churches reported weekend attendance exceeding 400.
- Fourteen churches reported weekend attendance exceeding 300.
- Fifteen churches reported weekend attendance exceeding 200.
- Thirty three churches reported weekend attendance exceeding 100.
- Circa 95% of our churches reported weekend attendance that exceeded last year’s average attendance.
- A great Kingdom impact weekend. Onward and upward.
Special Note:
Our pastor at Lower Hainesville, Scott Lewis, is bi-vocational as he supports his family and pastors this small rural congregation. The following is an excerpt from a recent email from Scott:
