Monday Again
SPECIAL NOTE: We are in the midst of an office renovation that will provide us with a board/conference room for the first time. A part of this project includes re-carpeting of the office suite, which will be completed the end of this week or the first of next. This will require the moving of all furniture and equipment which will result in limited office function for a couple of days.
While laptops and cell phones will be up and going, the office phones, computer and printer will be down or intermittent at best for a day or two. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding.
Five babies were dedicated by Pastor Nick Graham at Maple Ridge last Sunday. This is a great testimony to new life on the Ridge both physical and spiritual. Congrats.
It’s Monday Again (IMA) was opened last month by people in nine different countries. Onward and upward.
It was announced in Yarmouth yesterday that their LBA is unanimously recommending John Symonds as Lead Pastor for a two-year term with a membership vote to be taken later this month. Yarmouth is in a growth season and this is a very positive step by their leaders.
We all agonize over the deep struggle in Ukraine and what that may all mean on the broader world scene. World Hope Canada (WHC) has long-standing ministry in the country located in and near Odessa. Kerry and Carole Allison have served there with distinction for several years and the Country Director for WHC has visited Beulah in the past. Please hold this vital ministry up in prayer.
Lent began last week – March 5th and concludes on April 15th. While Lent observation and focus is not part of our historic practise, the concept of self-sacrifice/self-denial has deep Biblical significance. Are you considering some form of self-denial leading up to the great sacrifice we will celebrate over Easter?
Amherst has a mission team en route to Haiti and what better launch could there be than corporate prayer from the home team. The number of mission teams from our district is expanding and I could not be more pleased. We will celebrate Great Commission ministry thrust at Beulah 2014 – don’t miss it.
Gloria and I were at KVEast yesterday morning. Great to be in the first “one church in two locations” ministry of our district. Congrats to Pastor Brent and his crew. Yesterday morning set a new attendance record at KVEast – 193. Deep Water is now also a two-site church and Hillside is looking at a second location as I mentioned in last week’s IMA. This trend will expand going forward – keep tuned.
Yesterday we were privileged to share in a buffet dinner at Chateau de Champlain in Saint John. It was great to see Jack and Charlene MacKenzie and Art Ingersoll who are residents there. Walter and Margo Perry hosted us and we also saw John McElhinney and others who were guests for dinner.
The Atlantic District is partnering with Kingswood University to provide three one day seminars entitled “Sticky Faith” This FULLER INSTITUTE seminar focuses on contributing factors that affect young adults faith retention.
What can we do as churches to be intentional about creating a community that will help our teens to “weather the attacks” on their faith once they leave our ministries?

THOT: How strange must the Lenten language of “self-denial, self-sacrifice” sound to a culture steeped in self-esteem, self-fulfilment and self-help. – Leonard Sweet
ON SECOND THOT: Diminish the authority of God’s Word and before long sin, repentance, and hell get replaced with self-help, self-love and self-acceptance. – Mark Driscoll
