Monday Again
A new year dawns this week. The year is new. The mission is not. The methods may change. The message will not. The future in uncertain. The faith is not. The pressures may multiply. The Presence is magnificent. Take heart. Be encouraged. As the Brits coined in their WW II phrase, Be Calm and Carry On!
While we were enjoying a white Christmas here at home, Robin White, our GP (Global Partners) missionary to Japan, was observing the birth of Christ half way around the world. Thanks to Robin and all the GPers who represent and present the Master in so many locations.
Crosspoint met in the Fredericton Convention Centre and Kings Valley met in the Imperial Theatre in Saint John. Very good reports from Maple Ridge, Truro, Cornerstone and Moncton.
A wonderful Christmas gift came to Kingswood University this year with the receipt of an unexpected gift of $500,000 to apply to the reduction of the chapel debt. This generous and welcome gift is deeply appreciated. Sincere appreciation is expressed to the donors and and a heart-felt PTL is offered up to the Master.
Cornerstone Wesleyan in Hammonds Plains had a special Christmas project to raise funds for the purpose of drilling fresh water wells in Sierra Leone. Their goal was $6000 to drill two wells. The offering totalled over $10,000 – 3 wells +. Great response. Congrats! Christmas is about giving and what could be more appropriate than giving to make a real difference in the lives of people we do not know but who are in genuine need.
Gloria and I will be on vacation for the first two weeks of January. I will be checking email once daily and please feel free to be in touch in this manner as required. Thanks for being patient as response time will be a bit slower than normal. Karrilee will have information at the district office on how to contact me in case of emergency.
Snowbirds take note. The annual Atlantic Snowbirds Breakfast will take place on Saturday, Feb 1, 2014 at the Country Kitchen in Brooksville at 9 AM. Gloria and I will be honoured to host this event and all who attend will be guests of our district. We will be receiving an offering, the proceeds of which will help fund the Jesus Film, the most effective evangelistic tool in the history of Christianity. See many of you there.
