Monday Again
While in Indianapolis last week for the General Board (GB) meetings, I had opportunity to greet the leaders of the Ibero-America area – men I highly respect and with whom I had the privilege of serving while at Global partners. These men lead the work of our church in Panama, Chile, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. The international tribe is amazing!
As mentioned, the GB met for two days last week and processed routine items as required but focused largely on the future possibilities as we work together to see our church truly become a movement. Our new GS is highly energized as he leads us forward. The panel viewed above is comprised of leading pastors in our church all of whom are members of the GB. It is a huge plus to the board to have these high capacity leaders in the group.
- As a powerful visual testimony to having put past differences and disagreements behind them and to clarify their mission going forward, the church at Havelock, NS held a “Bury the Hatchet” service last week when they dug a hole and literally buried the hatchet. Well done Pastor Shawn and the Havelock leadership. As we often say about baptism, this was an outward sign of an inward work.
- Head of Millstream gave Pastor Vince Robertson a unanimous four-year recall which he has accepted. Congrats.
- Jonesport raised over $5400 in a GP Mile of Pennies project to provide AudioBibles in one of the indigenous languages of Mozambique. They raised enough to provide 170 of the AudioBibles. Well done.
- Luke Budreau has accepted the position of NextGen Pastor at Fredericton Journey – welcome Luke.
- Lillian Goudy, a charter member at Brazil Lake passed away recently at the age of 93. She has two sons in the church there and her grandson is the LBA vice-chair. Multi-generational Kingdom impact.
- The Beulah 2017 schedule is up on the website – check it out. Beulah in only 60 days away……
The church in Tiddville, NS that was sold to us by the PAOC a few months for $1 has been renamed as the pic above reveals. Congrats to Pastor Tim Long and the crew.
Peter is doing an excellent job with THRIVE and sent the note below concerning a THRIVE event at Beulah last week pictured above.
“Rev. Jay Guptill has been appointed as the THRIVE DBMD Director moving forward and will also serve on the DBMD Executive following District Conference. The second of four workshops in the THRIVE DMBD track for licensed and recently ordained ministers was instructed this past Monday and Tuesday by Dr. Dan Poff of Indiana Wesleyan at Beulah Camp. This additional step in our DBMD for prophets-in-process was approved as a four-year pilot by the DBA. Each workshop addresses a different theme of ministry investment for those early in their ministry and is followed up by six months of one-on-one coaching for personal application of the material. Dr. Allen Lee (District Clergy Care Director) is also part of the leadership team for this initiative. The theme of this year’s THRIVE Workshop focused on understanding congregations and provided practical tools in setting boundaries, dealing with triangulation, and becoming a differentiated leader.”
Great pic from Allan and Sheri Stevens, missionaries in Albania. Thank the Master for progress in the work there – a country that was once declared to be officially atheistic.

Baritone Leader’s Roundtable
How do you lead from the 2nd Chair? How do you deal with conflict and criticism when you are not the Lead Pastor? How do you empower and equip lay ministry under someone else’s vision? These questions and much more will be discussed at our very first Atlantic District “Baritone Leader’s Roundtable.” This is an affinity group for pastors in staff leadership, especially for those who carry a broad range of ministry responsibilities. The interaction and instruction will be insightful, encouraging, and practically applicable to your own church/ministry setting. Special thanks to Pastor Jedie for his excellent work in coordinating this event.
