Monday Again
A banner day at Port Maitland yesterday when 5 were baptized down at the beach – 2 of the Pastor’s own children, another child and 2 adults. To quote Pastor Barry Vernon “We are all so excited with the baptism we had today….. We continue to look forward to what God has in store here.”
Shelburne Hope Wesleyan recently received 4 new members pictured above. They also received one member by transfer on the same recent Sunday. The rebirth at Hope Wesleyan continues – PTL!
Six were baptized at Havelock, NS yesterday, including Pastor Shawn Craven’s three children. We have had several pastors honoured to baptize their own children in recent Sundays – a great blessing. To quote Pastor Shawn, “Baptized 6 this morning including our own 3. It doesn’t get any better!”
A Nova Scotia focus continues…Peter was present at Halifax Deep Water yesterday to install AJ Thomas as Lead Pastor. AJ planted the church 9 years ago and was installed there following official organization 3 years ago. After a 2 year absence, he is back and was installed again yesterday. To use AJ’s own hashtag – #weirdlife. But the show stopper was Hazel Grace, daughter of Assistant Pastor Bradford Rogers and his wife Ashley who at 2 weeks old, came to church.
- The Beulah session of the Camp Board met at Heartland this past Monday. Great interchange on a very successful summer of ministry at Beulah and plans for 2017. Kudos to Don Ingersoll for dreaming and delivering on A Day Like No Other, which exceeded many expectations. Watch for an upgraded model for 2017.
- Maximizing Impact weekends are now set for this fall at Perth-Andover, Sussex and Brazil Lake – more churches in the winter/spring of 17 as MI continues to impact our district.
- I will be conducting follow up visits on 4 of the earlier MI churches where the team spent a weekend and where the LBA accepted the recommendations from the team report. These visits will be for accountability, follow up and interchange on ways to improve the MI process. In late September and early October I will be visiting Bangor The River; Woodstock; Connections Truro and Woods Harbour.
- Brian Dodd in his leadership posting last week spoke of the Lead Pastor as the Chief Clarity Officer – an excellent restatement of the established truth that the leader’s first task is to define reality.
THOT: “Celebrated my pa! Grateful for all the love and grateful for the peace he knows now. Awesome and beautiful.” – Andrew Maves re his dad’s recent passing.
ON SECOND THOT: “If you command wisely, you’ll be obeyed cheerfully.” – Thomas Fuller
