Monday Again

What a great weekend as we once again celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ – the defining event of our faith. A smattering of highlights follow – a full report will appear next week.
Presque Isle had 1113 in attendance – (Last Year’s Average – LYA) was 569. This may have been their best attendance ever.
Truro Connections had 122 present – LYA 93 – and 5 accepted Christ.
Grand Manan had 255 present in a combined service in the high school as we move toward the merger on the island. LYA combined for the three churches was 155.
Moncton baptized 22 – full stats on attendance and conversions to follow.
Yarmouth had 637 present – LYA 409 – and baptized 6. This was Pastor John Symonds’ last Sunday at Yarmouth – what a fitting conclusion to a truly outstanding ministry there spanning more than 20 years.
Fredericton Crosspoint held 4 services over the weekend with 2 of those being in the Cineplex – a new initiative for them. Total attendance exceeded 670 – LYA 437.
Havelock, NB had 128 at their combined weekend activities – LYA 33.
Bangor The River had 135 at the first service of the merged churches there – LYA combined for the two churches was 112.
Maple Ridge – 201 present – LYA 150.
Kings Valley had 1694 in attendance – LYA 1024 – and 42 conversions!
Woods Harbour weekend total was 170 – LYA 95 – with 2 baptisms and 1 conversion.
Havelock, NS weekend total was 374 – LYA 76 – and 2 conversions.
Woodstock rented the local movie theatre for services last Sunday and showed the movie Risen to adults and the Jesus Film for Kids to the children. They also gave the book, The Case for Easter, to all the adults. There were 425 present – LYA 249 – the highest attendance in Pastor Dale MacDonald’s tenure there of more than 30 years. Congrats on a creative outreach.
Mount Pearl Solid Rock saw 102 separate individuals attend their weekend events – LYA 60 – with several recommitments, new visitors and at least 1 conversion.
Watch for total numbers next week. The Master is at work among us – the tide is rising!

Following ordination interviews in Dartmouth last week, Dale MacDonald, Peter and I dropped in to visit with Nick and fam. Please note the highlights in the picture – Beulah Tab drawing done by their daughter Erica, his transplant T shirt and his high quality cap. Great visit. Progress is definitely being made. Thanks for your prayers and support – both still needed.

  • Sussex has offered an extended call to Pastor Don Ingersoll which he has accepted.
  • A J Thomas has been invited to candidate at Halifax Deep Water on April 10th and has accepted their invitation.
  • Head of Millstream are rejoicing over a new convert as a result of the Alpha program. They are anticipating a baptism coming up soon.
  • West Head has a prayer list of 90 men they feel a burden to see come to Christ.  A few weeks ago, I reported one of those men had been saved.  Another accepted Christ this past week.  Onward and upward.
  • Our DBA met last week in our excellent new board room. One of the highlights of the meeting was the dedication of the board room as the Dean Edgett Memorial Board Room. His wife Elizabeth joined us digitally and his son David and his wife were with us in person.

A WORD FROM OUR GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT
I have served for many years on the General Board of the church, and we met a week or so ago in Indy. We stayed at the Cambria Suites hotel. The paragraph below comes from a memo that Dr. Lyon sent to the GB members a few days ago. Heartwarming and instructive – you never know who’s watching.
I need to tell you about your story….As you know most of you stayed at the Cambria Suites. You met the desk manager and talked with her. Well, she was so moved by your kindness to her as well as the way you treated each other, and the joy you seemed to exude (her words) that she goggled Wesleyan – found our Waterline Church pastored by John Freed  – which is now meeting in the HDQT. Came to church there last Sunday with her children and husband. Loved it and said they would be back!!
