It’s Monday Again … Again

It as been my privileged responsibility to serve as Acting DS of our Atlantic District for nearly 60 days while our DS Peter Moore has been on a well-deserved sabbatical. He returns to his duties later this week. Welcome back!

I have been honoured to serve our district during this time. Debby joins me in saying thank you to so many for kindness shown, fellowship shared  and understanding granted as we shared in the variety of matters that emerged during these days of “doing ministry” together. Onward and upward!

The ICWC (International Conference of The Wesleyan Church) convened this month in Boksburg, South Africa. This inspiring event brought together circa 400 delegates and guests from some 90 countries. There is always a powerful dynamic present when believers from literally around the world meet to worship, fellowship, pray and conduct business together. This event was no exception.

Big Items in a Few Words

  • A presidential candidate and his wife will be on the Kingswood campus this week. Watch for an update.
  • Tidal Church (Moncton) is in a debt retirement campaign with over 730K committed to date.
  • Woods Harbour and Yarmouth have entered into a Strategic Partnership focused on strengthening the ministry at Woods Harbour.
  • The Director of Caton’s Island position is open as Dean Stephenson is stepping down after nearly 30 years of faithful service. See the position description for more information.
  • Julie Brewer, wife of Pastor Adam Brewer at Kings West has received a very serious cancer diagnosis. Prayer needed and requested.

Twice recently this item ran into me. It is no doubt familiar to some, but not all of you, who are reading this item that is  sometimes referred to as “The Reverse St. Francis Prayer”.

Where there is silence, may I be a voice.

Where there is too much comfort and too little action, grant disruption;

Where there are doors closed and hearts locked, grant the willingness to listen.

Where laws dictate and pain is overlooked…

When tradition speaks louder than need…

Grant that I may seek rather to do justice than to talk about it;

Disturb us oh Lord.

To be with, as well as for, the alienated;

To love the unlovable as well as the lovely;

Lord, make me a channel of disturbance.
– Author unknown.

Onward and upward,

H C Wilson
