It’s Monday Again

Kings (Brent Ingersoll) celebrated its 6th annual Love Week in weekend services. You will be inspired by watching this full 50 minute presentation which summarizes a new record investment for His glory in our region!

A sacrificial offering of $193,754 was received on September 15th. This entire amount was given away all across the Maritimes last week as a tangible expression of the power of God’s love (click on the graphic to watch how people responded). In addition, Kings congregation (three locations – Halifax, Saint John West, & Valley) donated 2,456 hours of volunteer ministry last week.

The aggregate funds gifted through the generosity of God’s people at Kings over the past six years totals $825,000. Simply amazing. Only God knows how this level of unprecedented spiritual invasion is creating a slipstream of Kingdom momentum for His glory!

Recently merged congregations on either side of the Moosabec Reach (Jonesport & Beals Island) celebrated the official installation yesterday morning of Lead Pastor Andy Phillips. The Reach has a Main St. Campus (pictured above in Jonesport) and an Island Campus.
The congregations voted in February for the merger which began on Easter Sunday and agreed to complete extensive renovations to the Island Campus as the long-term site for weekly worship services. The Main St. Campus will continue as the temporary site for weekend services until work is completed. The pews were removed and new carpet was laid just a few days ago (pictured above with Andy and Assistant Pastor Nick Wilson). The major upgrades continue with a workday this Saturday. Pastor Andy would welcome conversations with any Atlantic pastors who may consider bringing a work team in the coming weeks to assist in gyprock, click-flooring, and painting. And speaking of work teams…
Missions Pastor Deborah Gilbert (Cornerstone) and James Penney (Hillside) just returned from a week of assisting World Hope International to create fresh water from dirty, salt water for survivors of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. If you would like to donate to help continue life-saving water distribution in the Bahamas, please go to www.worldhope.ca. Donations are still necessary and are much needed. Thank you to those who have already donated! #globalcollective
Journey (Matt Maxwell) celebrated with more than 400 at yesterday’s Fall Bash kick-off Sunday. “There were so many new faces, that it was overwhelming,” Matt shared, “What I was even more blessed by was the many who stepped up and served!”
The third cohort of Atlantic District pastors/churches exploring potential satellite ministry will begin with Ken Nash in early October. Earlier this month an introductory Zoom session was conducted with Jim Agrell (Encounter), Tim Long (Live Well), Matt Maxwell (Journey), Evan Oxner (Amherst), & Graham Perry (SJ1). #kingdommultiplication
Registration opens today for the 2019 BLI Believability Tour on November 9th in Moncton! This one-day annual event is a proven Kingdom resource for lay leaders and pastors. Carey Nieuwhof will offer the keynote presentation with an impressive line-up of Kingdom influencers who will share best practices and principles for contextual effectiveness. Plan now to attend with multiple leaders from your church and your registration may be discounted up to 50%! So grateful for the many ways Kingswood University and the Buckingham Leadership Institute invest in raising leaders.

Special Prayer Requested: Next Gen Pastor Luke and Vanessa Budreau (Journey) are on the way to Toronto Sick Kids and will arrive this morning. Their nearly six-month-old daughter, Eleanora, has been diagnosed with Pulmonary Vein Stenosis. This is a very serious illness and she will likely need open heart surgery – which could be as early as this week. Follow the Budreaus on Facebook for updates as you prayerfully support them during these challenging days.

Points to Ponder:

  • Leaders must draw the best out of people, and friendship does that far better than prolonged argument or mere logic. (J. Oswald Sanders)
  • Your competency will take you only as far as your character will sustain you.  (Carey Nieuwhof)
  • People with holy disturbance who don’t feel heard may mishandle their power – they need to be listened to, cared for and pastored. (Ken Nash)

As the summer comes to an end, tens of thousands of students across Atlantic Canada get ready to return to their university towns. This presents a unique opportunity to local churches in these towns to minister to these young adults. If you know of any students headed to university/college, please pass on this list of the churches and follow-up with them to encourage their involvement in the early weeks of settling into school as well as connecting with an on-campus Christian ministry.
IMPORTANT: Research conducted by the EFC shows that when a non-family member from the student’s home church helps them make early connections with a nearby or on-campus faith community it is the greatest predictor for young adults to maintain their personal walk of faith.
