It’s Monday Again

On Saturday, over 2000 students and leaders gathered at three different churches for about five hours for One Conference. Locations included The Rock in Halifax, Moncton Wesleyan, and Kings in Quispamsis which simultaneously hosted rallies for youth groups of churches across the Atlantic region. Andy Broad (Kings) shared, “The Spirit of God was tangibly present, and bright hope for the future of our region and this next generation was palpable at each site. It was a perfect stepping stone back to having everyone back together in ONE room in 2023!  Our youth pastors/leaders are to be commended for making this unifying event a priority.”

Austin White (Moncton) shared, “One Con was an interdenominational conference celebrating one God, one mission, one global church. Speaker Jenny Allen encouraged teens to get plugged into a local church and get discipled. Speaker Jason Ballard encouraged teens to be all in for Jesus. This weekend was a massive Kingdom win!”
On Saturday, Connection (Luke Anderson) participated in The Big Give – A National Movement of Generosity. It was a free give away, free BBQ, free baked goods, & free family pictures. Luke shared, “Many from the community were able to benefit from the day! A great way to kick off the month of June.” Amherst (Evan Oxner) also participated in this national event.
The BLT Launch Team for Deep Water (AJ Thomas) met on the final Sunday night of May at the initiative of Site Pastors Timothy & McCaila Andrews. McCaila shared, “It was a great night as Stephanie Robinson taught an important lesson on The Rule of Life to our team. Stephanie is a Kingswood University MAPT grad, and it’s so exciting to see how her pastoral & teaching gifts add value and spiritual depth to our team! Stephanie’s whole family (her husband and their five children aged 7-22) are all part of our Launch Team.”

The Beulah Family Camp planning team gathered this week to care for a myriad of logistics as we prepare to embrace the theme: Now Is The Time for Renewal! Special thanks to the generous financial donors and volunteers who have contributed to the completion of the second floor of the Stephenson Center on Caton’s Island. A significant contribution in realizing our goal for summer 2022 was made this week by a work crew from The Ridge (Mike Agrell) as they installed insulation, vapour barrier, and strapping in gyproc. This air-conditioned worship center and meeting space will be greatly appreciated by campers and staff!

Two esteemed leaders who BOTH had birthdays this past week. National Superintendent Steve Elliott (above right) continues to provide wise direction in establishing the legal and spiritual framework needed for the long-term Kingdom impact of The Wesleyan Church of Canada (TWCC).
  • It was my honour to celebrate with Dr. HC (above left) on his big day (May 31st). As readers of It’s Monday Again know, we rarely post prayer requests for our ministerial tribe as these are well cared for in so many other ways and would unnecessarily lengthen this weekly publication.
PRAYER UPDATE: That said, and with the blessing of the Wilsons, please be in prayer for Gloria as she continues to recover in Moncton Hospital. She was admitted for treatment before Mother’s Day and was diagnosed with a very rare condition known as acquired hemophilia. The rate of occurrence is reported to be 1.5 per million. The journey over the past month has been difficult. They are grateful for so many who have reached out to express support.
Points to Ponder
  • Among all the other voices, those within and those without – may we listen to His voice above all others. (Wayne Schmidt)
  • Questions have the opposite posture of arguing, but they cause the result we actually intend from our arguing—which may be why Jesus used them so much. Questions cause the change arguing intends but rarely provokes. (David Drury)
  • You can’t unleash what is on the inside and remain the same on the outside. (Meredith Griffin)
