It’s Monday Again

God with us! There has never been greater urgency for the hope of the Advent season through the incarnation of The Way, The Truth, & The Life. The tragedy of the Chief William Saulis this week was a painful and powerful reminder of the things that matter most.

Our district family has a strong presence on the South Shore of Nova Scotia and many of our pastors and parishioners are deeply impacted and are seizing opportunities to express support. The Mayor of Yarmouth invited AJ Plaizier (Yarmouth) to share words of comfort and pray for the families of these lost fishers in this FB Live broadcast (Mayor Pam Moodintroduces this at timestamp 2:23). What a privilege to manifest His incarnation through our influence as we demonstrate His love this season! He is Immanuel.

Journey (Matt Maxwell) Life Groups prepared these gift bags this week filled with tangible expressions of love to distribute to the homeless in the Fredericton area.
In the same spirit, Hope (Joanne Ozon) volunteers donated several Christmas hampers that included all the fixin’s for a full turkey dinner. These were delivered in -18C temperature to needy families in the Shelburne area.
The DBA convened this week for an additional meeting as we continue to pursue next steps in a variety of district opportunities including ongoing developments arising from the excellent Task Force Report. An update will be shared at the DS Dialog Days in February. Grateful for the wisdom and unity of these Spirit-filled leaders who care deeply about discerning God’s best for the future of the Kingdom in our region through our Atlantic Tribe.
Ellen joins me in expressing sincere condolences on behalf of the Atlantic District family to Tracy & Heidi Marr (Havelock) on Saturday’s passing of his dear mother, Verna Marr. Tracy was with her when she slipped into her eternal reward and he shared, “I’m so glad for the hope she taught us. It does not end there. She is with Jesus now.” Condolences may be posted HERE as the family finalizes plans to celebrate her life.
Points to Ponder
  • Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world. (C.S. Lewis)
  • Into this world, this demented inn in which there is absolutely no room for Him at all, Christ comes uninvited. (Thomas Merton)
  • From royal robes to filthy rags. Why did God move into our neighborhood? To become obedient to death. (Joel Gorveatte) #rescueplan

This Christmas, why not give a gift that keeps on giving? Caton’s Island is focused on providing a fun, safe, amazing experience that has one purpose, to show the love of Christ to everyone who attends. When you give to Caton’s, as a one-time gift or a monthly recurring gift, you are supporting projects like the Choate Dining Hall Expansion, facility upgrades, maintenance, and overall camp operations. Your gift provides a life-changing experience to campers and staff that attend each year, making your donation a greater impact than you will ever know! All donations go to general operations unless otherwise designated. If you wish to give to a specific project just let us know when making a donation.

What if COVID-19 is the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
