It’s Monday Again

The church attendance cap in NB is lifted! Maple Ridge (Mike Agrell) had a drive in service yesterday with 107 in their cars and on the grass. Mike shared, “Everyone was so joyful at being able to see each other and worship together for the first time in months. We saw some new faces too.”
For a little variety people were encouraged to honk instead of saying amen. Mike shared, “I was just about blown off the ridge! As you see in the pictures we are blessed with beautiful scenery!” Following the service a young man was baptized in the Millville stream. He was the third generation to be baptized in those waters – PTL!

Brazil Lake (Kevin Myers) held it’s second drive-in service yesterday with 59 in attendance plus another 15 online. Kevin reported, “We will be doing them every third week for the summer… was a fun day!”

On Friday, June 19th the Province of New Brunswick released guidelines for moving to the next phase of recovery in the yellow stage. The lift on the occupancy cap in NB for persons able to gather in controlled venues with appropriate physical distancing is encouraging. Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, PEI, & Maine continue to see the gradual loosening of restrictions as well. As Pastoral Staff & LBA’s continue to navigate these welcome changes, please remember to prayerfully support and provide encouragement as decisions are made.

WayBase is a parachurch organization in Canada (click HERE for an overview) and has completed a national survey on the impact of COVID-19 on Christian Ministries in Canada. This 54-page report collected data from more than 2,600 ministries across Canada.
WayBase Director Tim Day shares about the findings of this comprehensive report, “It was striking to uncover the consistent experience of ministries across all Christian traditions, ministry sizes, and ministry types. We also gleaned insights on how ministries are adapting during this time.”
Points to Ponder
  • The opposing force of uncertainty is not certainty, it is clarity. (Will Mancini)
  • Preach faith till you have it; and then, because you have it, you will preach faith. (Wesley quoting Peter Bohler)
  • Following Jesus is not about a prayer that you pray. Following Jesus is about a life that you live.  At the center of this life is that ethic of love. (Andy Stanley)
Ellen joins me in expressing sincere condolences on behalf of the Atlantic District family for Peter & Cathy Hayes (Solid Rock) on last week’s passing of her father, David Boyd. A private family service will be held later this week for those who are NB residents. Please be in prayer for Cathy and her extended family during this time of loss and separation.
