It’s Monday Again

Mothers were celebrated across the Atlantic District churches yesterday. My Mom (Joyce Moore) led me to Christ as a young missionary kid and this weekend was a special time for us all to honour the legacy and Kingdom influence of our heritage. And if you’ll allow a proud son moment, Mom is in her 80th year and just before the pandemic hit, she used her birthday money to go parasailing in Florida – that’s my Mama!
Moncton (Joel Gorveatte) led in two virtual child dedications at the beginning of yesterday’s service. The innovation of the Church continues to find a way to make sure families receive ministry and Kingdom leadership in their homes.Moncton Wesleyan is currently accepting applications for two pastoral staff roles. Interested candidates may submit resumes to Joyce Gildart (jgildart@mw.church) for the Student Ministries Pastor or Executive Pastor positions.

Houghton College conducted a virtual convocation weekend to celebrate the Class of 2020. The Commencement speaker was a graduate in the Class of 1976, Dr. Deborah Birx, who is providing inner circle leadership and counsel alongside POTUS in this global pandemic. On a personal family note, our oldest daughter Mallory was in this year’s graduation class… in our living room! President Shirley Mullen and the Administration & Faculty of Houghton provided excellent leadership to celebrate this unusual year.
Bud Fancy (Framework) led a Zoom National Day of Prayer (USA) event with a few pastors from across Aroostook County in a Facebook live event where people from the county could ask for prayer or pray with them as they interacted and led through Zoom.
Rich Thomas (Easton & Community) was one of the county pastors included in this Day of Prayer. He and his wife Katie delivered gift coffee packs this week to the homes of their church families as a rain check for a day soon when Maine will allow visits. The first Sunday of May, Rich held his first drive-in service!
Growing weary of pandemic restrictions? Then this volunteer appreciation video from the staff at Moncton Wesleyan is for you. This original variation on “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” provides a much needed lighter side and is worth every minute – enjoy!
The weekly connection with District Superintendents continues to provide excellent resources and shared learning for next steps as DS Karl Eastlack (Northeast District) coordinates this opportunity.
AD COVID-Check-In with the DS. On Thursday, I met by Zoom with some of our Atlantic Pastors. I would welcome any pastor to join me for this optional Zoom COVID Check-In on Friday, May 15th @ 11:00 a.m. Atlantic Time. The time/date changes weekly based on my schedule. Please cut and paste this Zoom link into your calendar now to make plans to join in this week!

This fall thousands of Bahamians received clean water and life-saving supplies after the destruction of Hurricane Dorian. Throughout the past year World Hope provided clean water through wells and piped water to communities in West Africa and Cambodia and we continue to help transform the lives of young orphaned girls in Ukraine.

  • Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work. (C. S. Lewis)
  • God may not always live up to our expectations, but He always lives up to His promises. He may not be willing to meet our expectations because He wants to exceed them. (Tiffany McGraw)
  • Your greatest contribution to the kingdom of God might not be something you do, but someone you raise. (Andy Stanley)

COVID-19 Resources
There is little doubt we are in a season of testing and refinement…
not only for the Church, but for her leaders.

What about Beulah Family Camp & Caton’s Island for 2020?
This May would have celebrated an on-campus graduation for Kingswood University.  The Faculty found a creative way to extend their congratulations for the Class of 2020! Know a potential student for this fall? Feel free to share this virtual campus tour.
