Atlantic Connexion

Transformed lives were celebrated in Port Maitland (Barry Vernon) this Sunday! Barry shared, “What an exciting day for us. The young girl’s mother assisted me for both baptisms. She also helps with Awana and the youth group. Her daughter was beaming and said that she had a happiness that wouldn’t go away – PTL!”

  • Special thanks to Yarmouth (AJ Plaizier) for loaning the portable baptistry – an historic first to have baptisms inside the church as the ocean has been the primary place for this sacrament down through the years.

Sharon Simoneau (Westchester) began her ministry in October and this Sunday she shared, “There’s a new name written down in glory as of this morning!” Praise the Lord for this report of someone giving their life to Christ and for this new season of fruit bearing.

Pastor Cluster Leaders Prepare for Next Quarter

On Wednesday, Pastor Cluster Leaders convened to review material for the next three months of cluster gatherings with a focus on multiplication. Jason Blaikie (Framework) shared his experience at Exponential earlier this month which will be the basis for some of the material discussed in the monthly meetings this quarter.

  • In addition, our District Director of Multiplication (and Asst. DS) Scott Prime (New Hope) shared about how every church in the district can take advantage of the opportunity to join and/or lead a Multiplication Network.

Pastors are also being encouraged to consider how their churches may be led to engage with the Multiplication Networks in the Central Canada District.

A high quality resource has just been launched as the Wesleyan Diaspora Network (WDN) which is a joint initiative of CMAD and GP. Justin Bradbury (Lead Pastor of Calgary Wesleyan and Regional Director of Western Canada in the Central Canada District) has been working with denominational leaders to prepare this exciting new resource for our pastors and churches.

  • The WDN exists to connect, resource, and equip leaders desiring to love and serve newcomer communities to North America, and to partner with diaspora Christians in disciple-making and church planting efforts.

The WDN seeks to accomplish this by:

  • Creating learning environments for acquiring best practices in diaspora ministry
  • Connecting leaders to coaches and mentors with expertise in diaspora mission
  • Equipping North American leaders to develop Kingdom partnerships with diaspora Christians

The WDN will launch with its first 6-week learning community, commencing April 11 and running until May 16. CLICK HERE for a detailed two-page overview of this 6-week resource.

It was a wonderful day of worship (bottom pic) and The Word at Encounter (Jim Agrell) this Sunday. These continue to be encouraging days of post-pandemic rebuilding. Saturday evening featured as special JOY (Just Older Youth) event – a Newfoundland Kitchen Party!

  • Kissing the cod and all the fun traditions were very energetically led by two resident Newfoundlanders – a fantastic idea to celebrate our region as we continue to plan and pray for new Kingdom locations on The Rock!
