National Conference 2023 Gathers in Calgary
The Wesleyan Church of Canada convened its second National Conference this past week in Calgary, Alberta. National Superintendent Steve Elliott chaired the nearly 40 delegates as more than 100 gathered to celebrate the future of our Established National Conference.
The rallies were marked by excellence in worship and preaching, but most of all, by the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit. Fellowship was rich around meals and scheduled breaks. Steve Elliott was reelected as National Superintendent and General Superintendent Wayne Schmidt and Dr. HC conducted an installation ceremony for the National Board to conclude our time together.
Summer Baptisms!
Crosspoint (John Sherwood) celebrated six decisions to be baptized on July 30th – PTL! John shared, “It was a wonderful celebration together and public profession of faith down at the banks of the Nashwaak. We’ve had the privilege of baptizing 14 people this calendar year. 13 of those have been since Easter weekend.”
  • Moncton (Jim Clements) celebrated recent baptisms of those pictured above.
Island (Brian Gilroy) also baptized six teens (including Brian & Kimberly’s son, Jeshuah) in the waters at the mouth of the Tryon River on the South Shore of PEI – Praise God! There’s nothing more sweet in Kingdom leadership than baptizing your own children – family is first ministry.
One Lord. One Faith. One Baptism.
Woods Harbour (Tim Conrad) & West Head (Vince Robertson) joined with two local baptist churches (Stone & Temple) for a great unity service with 128 in attendance. Best of all, the time of worship was followed with a baptism where seven were baptized!
Last week was Stellar VBS @The Reach (Andy Phillips). Andy shared, “There were over 40 kids that came during the week to learn about how to shine Jesus’ light.  Several children decided they wanted to follow Jesus! To end the week, we had a hot dog cookout and closing program for the kids and parents.”
  • Kings (Brent Ingersoll) kids camp for 2023 was Ready, Set, Move. That’s 5 camps, one in every Kings Church location!  528 kids over the summer have heard how much Jesus loves them and the amazing adventure of following Him. Linda Lamos shared, “This would not be possible without the amazing camp directors and the 173 volunteers who poured into the kids. Thank you, Jesus, for all the seeds that have been planted and the changed lives!”
  • How can we become more connectional in pursuit of mission? If mission does not burn with passion, we have no hope of experiencing movement. (Wayne Schmidt)
  • Empowering other leaders becomes more natural when we realize we are part of the story, not the point of the story or the end of a story. (Dan Reiland)
  • Peter & Paul were called to reach differently. If you are Joshua, you don’t have to dismantle how Moses led. You don’t have to undo the past to acknowledge how God is at work in this generation. God keeps doing things differently. (Kevin Myers)
What is PreacHER Sunday all about?

The Wesleyan Church has the premier seminal egalitarian influence in the history of the North American Church as our antecedent denominations Ordained the first woman both in America and in Canada. Luther Lee (Wesleyan Methodist) Ordained the first woman in the USA in 1853, and Rev. Ella Kinney Sanders was Ordained by the Reformed Baptist Alliance of Canada in 1901.

As you have likely heard, E&CD is celebrating PreacHer Sunday this September!  What is PreacHer Sunday about? It is encouraging every Wesleyan Church to invite a woman to preach at least one Sunday during the month of September.

  • We recognize that many of our Wesleyan churches do not have females on staff.  To help navigate this, HQ has created a database of women available to preach during the month of September. HQ is asking that all credentialed women use this form (CLICK HERE) to share their availability to preach in September. If you would like assistance in finding the right fit for your church, please contact DBA Member, Victoria Rowe (Framework) at pastorvictoria@framework.church.
Thank you for partnering with us as we encourage women and men together to share the transforming message of Jesus!
  • It was also announced during an event for Women in Ministry @ Beulah Family Camp that the Atlantic District will provide a 100% reimbursement on the registration expense for any credentialed lady from our Ministerial Tribe who chooses to attend the Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy Conference on March 7-9, 2024.
