Live Well (Tim Long) – A Full House on Palm Sunday
Partnership across denominational lines is bearing fruit for God’s glory. A small PAOC congregation of seven believed God for something big. The PAOC Maritimes District selflessly gifted the Atlantic Wesleyan District with a church building and a parsonage in a Spirit directed partnership for Kingdom renewal on the Digby neck and islands.

  • When Tim & Julie Long began Live Well Community in January 2017, they could never have dreamed that even with a global pandemic they would have a nearly full church with almost 40 people on Palm Sunday just a few years later. With a population in the area west of Digby of 1500+, this is a phenomenal story of revitalization! Time to add another row of those chairs provided by Kings & Yarmouth.

Tim shared on Sunday the story of a couple who were baptized last summer and then the congregation applauded as he announced two baptisms scheduled for the monthly satellite location one ferry ride away – Island Church as it meets on Easter Sunday – PTL! CLICK HERE to check out this Baptism Resource Tim uses that was developed by Rob McDowell (Cornerstone). If you don’t have one for your church, feel free to use it.

  • New faces young and old are being added on a regular basis as pandemic restrictions are finally in the rear view mirror. Tim has an incredible heart for the needs of this community. After casting vision for serving those suffering from lost loved ones, Deep Water (AJ Thomas) partnered in ministry to provide the starter kit for Grief Share.

CLICK HERE to see the SECOND Grief Share Course offered by Live Well as the partnership has expanded to include Havelock (Shawn Craven) as Assistant Pastor Kathryn Brooks co-leads this ministry.

  • Tim’s Palm Sunday message was the first of four in a shared Easter series with eight South Shore congregations (see the poster below).
God keeps bringing quality Kingdom servants alongside Tim Long’s leadership of the Live Well story. Kingswood University graduates, Seth & Kaylin Short joined the Live Well pastoral team last fall. It was so encouraging to get to know them better this weekend. I admire their long-term commitment to partner in this exciting story. They are gifted and blessed to be under the wing of a great leader for their first local church ministry as a young married couple.

  • I was honoured and a little surprised to introduce Seth to his first-ever scallop! Now he’s hooked – looks like the Digby neck is going to be a great place to enjoy some more in the years ahead.

The Longs & Shorts have invited the Live Well family to engage in the “NewStart – 50 Days with Jesus” discipleship journey and 70% of the church is participating – PTL! An excellent Discipleship Pathway resource to consider as we answer the mission-critical question, “How is our church making disciples?”

DBMD Interviews Continue
Chair Dale MacDonald (Woodstock) convened the DBMD for a second time this week to conduct another full day of interviews for Ministerial Students and Licensed Ministers. The investment of this board has unequalled importance in guiding and guarding those called to the office and work of Ordained ministry. Our spiritual authority comes in part from being under authority. Submission is the gateway to authority and the Lord is raising up an encouraging cadre of women and men for His work.

Atlantic Church/Pastor Updates:

  • Brent Ingersoll (Kings) received a unanimous Board of Directors (LBA) vote last week to renew his Extended Call as Lead Pastor. Great days continue in the Kings story for God’s glory!
  • In the final pastoral evaluation scheduled for 2023, Tim Long received a unanimous LAC recommendation for continuing in his District Appointment as Lead Pastor of Live Well. It is so inspiring when the calling of a faithful Kingdom leader to a specific place is such a celebrated season of fulfillment and fruitfulness!
New Hope (Scott Prime) hosted a seven-hour men’s conference on Saturday with live simulcast sessions for the 30 men in attendance from four churches. Scott shared, “It was a great time of connection for the men, something that’s been missing over last few years.”
Beulah Family Camp Planning Team Gets Underway
Atlantic Executive Director Tami Mutch-Ketch convened key leaders this week for advance preparation of Beulah Family Camp 2023 (July 8-16).

Our two Camp Evangelists will both be there for the entire week and will alternate services. Rev. Moe Diggs, Lead Pastor of The Healing Place, is no stranger to us as this will be his third summer at BFC. Rev. Dr. Andrea Summers has served as the Campus Pastor & Dean of Spiritual Formation @ Indiana Wesleyan University since 2020. CLICK HERE for more information about Andrea’s journey in Kingdom leadership. This will be her first time ever at Beulah and to add to the excitement, both evangelists are bringing their families with them!

Stay tuned for more details about Beulah Family Camp in the weeks ahead!
New Atlantic District Clergy Care Coordinators
We are so grateful to Dr. Allen Lee for serving as our first Clergy Care Coordinator over the past six years. His ministry has been an immeasurable gift to our ministerial tribe. Because of increased responsibilities with Kingswood University, he will be concluding this role. We are so thankful for all he has done and you will be pleased to know that he will still be available as one of the counseling providers through our District Clergy Care options.

Effective immediately, Made for More Ministries (Revs. Jay & Sharon Guptill) has been appointed to serve in this important position to assist in the care and wellness of our pastoral families. Thank you, Jay & Sharon! Here are your options for reaching out to them at any time:

  • Email: info@madeformoreministries.ca
(Please note this corrected email address from an earlier communication.)
  • Jay Guptill: (506) 333-2630
  • Sharon Guptill: (506) 333-2687

To be clear, any current counseling arrangements with Allen Lee will remain unchanged. The Guptills look forward to ongoing collaboration with Allen as he passes the baton to them. Made for More Ministries is now fully available to our ministerial tribe with the same level of District support and partnership.

Every dream passes through the cross.

Every dream takes you to where you let go of everything and everyone, every agenda and expectation, and then it is only as the Lord resurrects you and your dream that you can go on. We spend much of our time and energy trying to avoid that place.

We want just enough of Jesus to make us happy, just enough to give us peace, and just enough to make things go our way to fulfill our dreams and our agenda. Meanwhile, He wants to take us to the cross, where our selfish dreams, egos and plans for “great accomplishments” have to die.

The cross brings you to a place of total and absolute surrender of all you have and all you are. (Chip Ingram)

Partnered in Ministry for Student Discipleship

One Con – June 2-3, 2023 @ Moncton Coliseum
ONE Conference has always been a movement seeking to align the youth of Atlantic Canada with the heart of God. As revival spreads and Gen Z are increasingly called into a deeper relationship with Jesus, the timing of this gathering has never been more important. We are so excited to return to the Moncton Coliseum for 2023, and to be able to get everyone in ONE space, as ONE church, worshipping ONE God.
