The Gathering 2023!
What does God do when nearly 2000 Kingdom leaders gather for three days with their families for worship, fellowship, encouragement, and Scriptural inspiration? His Spirit shows up and touches lives! And that’s exactly what happened last week at the Caribe Royale Convention Center in Orlando as Wesleyan leaders, spouses & preacher’s kids filled the ballroom, exhibit hall, and breakout sessions.

  • Including children, there were about 100 @ The Gathering from the Atlantic District. There is so much to celebrate as hearts left with renewed hope and a fresh sense of His anointing for the post-pandemic mission ahead!

Start planning now for you and your pastoral team to be part of The Gathering 2027. How much do you need to start budgeting into an annual reserve to make this premier event possible? It is worth every penny – don’t miss out next time.

The main rally messages will be available soon online for everyone to enjoy – they were all phenomenal. I would especially encourage you to take the time to listen to the offerings of Steve DeNeff & Albert Tate.

  • We had two of our Atlantic Tribe featured in the Breakout Sessions with a standing room only turnout for Brent Ingersoll (The Ministry of the Holy Spirit & the Church) and also Steve Elliott (The Holy Spirit in Evangelism).

The Kingswood University booth was a huge hit and had constant interviews taking place with Open Mike. The group pictured above did not include many, many other alumni who were also present at The Gathering. Congrats to President Lennox and the KU team for your excellent presence and connection!

One of the highlights of the week included a breakfast to honour pastors present at The Gathering who are completing 40, 50, & 60 years of Ordained Ministry in 2023. Denn Guptill, David Higle, Steve Lennox, & Janet Starks received their medallions in-person (Denn & Steve pictured above) for 40 Years of Ordained Ministry.

  • Other 40-Year Recipients listed in the program from the Atlantic District included Bruce Cheney, Dale MacDonald, & Brian Murray.

50-Year Recipients listed in the program from the Atlantic District included Steve Bradley, David Ingersoll, & Dr. HC. We only had one 60-Year Recipient – congratulations Charles Bain! All of these Kingdom servants will also be honoured at the Ordination Service in the Beulah Tabernacle on July 14, 2023.

Another highlight featured a special breakfast for Ordained Women with special presentations by General Superintendent Wayne Schmidt (as pictured above) and a video greeting from GS Emerita Jo Anne Lyon.

  • Ordained leaders present from the Atlantic District are pictured above (Natalie Gidney, Sharon Guptill, Marilyn Mansvelt, Tanya Nace, & Rebecca Perry). Others who were also present at The Gathering include Deborah Gilbert, Janice Queale, Janet Starks, Jennifer White, & Peggy Yetman.

Stay tuned for more details about PreacHER Sunday coming to a pulpit near you across The Wesleyan Church in September 2023!

One of the most impactful main rallies was offered by Steve DeNeff (as pictured above). Many of you remember him as one of our Beulah Family Camp Evangelists last summer. I am pleased to announce that Steve DeNeff has graciously committed to serve as our Keynote Speaker for our next Atlantic District Ministerial in the winter of 2024. Details TBD – stay tuned!

  • Families and Pastoral Teams took advantage of the beautiful Florida weather to schedule additional vacation days and specialty team building events. Jason Vienneau (Corbett) took his team Gator Hunting! Kids Pastor Diana Billings is taking the picture – don’t worry – she was in the boat. And maybe this kind of hunting was more watching than wrassling.

Corbett enjoyed an encouraging December with $13K raised for a well through World Hope Canada and attendance for their three Christmas Eve Services @ 450.

WE5 Trustees Conference – January 6th & 7th
For the third time, the Division of Education & Clergy Development (Johanna Rugh) convened a shoulder conference at The Gathering for the Trustees serving all institutions of Wesleyan Higher Education. This began with a dinner event on Friday that featured President Steve Lennox as he passionately inspired the leaders present to seize the future opportunity for all our schools as we continue providing a santifying context.

  • The 12-hour schedule on Saturday was packed with special presentations, breakout sessions, and fantastic opportunities for fellowship, food, and Kingdom synergy. Our University Presidents are to be commended for their sacrificial leadership in the face of unprecedented challenges for Christian Higher Education.

  • He brought you through some things you’ve never seen before to take you places you’ve never been before. (Kenneth Ulmer)
  • Your theology as an individual is the most practical thing about you. (Steve Lennox)
  • Popularity is the prostitution of credibility. This happens when we get our hands on the glory that belongs to God. Credibility is to be reinvested in His glory. (Wayne Schmidt)
