More Baptisms to Celebrate!

On Sunday, Deep Water (Nathan Maskery) baptized eight Christ-followers. Nathan shared, “The joy and excitement was palpable as we celebrated what Jesus is doing in our midst. One moment that was particularly special was when Bruce Cheney (pictured above) baptized his grandson, Hayden.” Praise the Lord!

  • Journey (Matt Maxwell) celebrated baptisms this Sunday as well with 21 who have publicly entered the waters of this sacrament since the beginning of May.

The 135th Anniversary of Nackawic Wesleyan (Ryan Farrell) was celebrated in style on Sunday. A very special guest was present during his first-ever visit to Canada. Saidu Kanu is the Director of World Hope Sierra Leone and also serves as the Global Ambassador of Clean Water Initiatives for World Hope International.

  • Nackawic Wesleyan has held 23 annual well-walks which began under Carl & Evelyn Brewer and have faithfully continued under the leadership of Ryan Farrell with invitations for other churches to partner from time to time. This year they have raised nearly $14K and the aggregate number of wells drilled around the world because of our Nackawic family has exceeded 80 – simply amazing! This includes the Bamba well (top picture) just drilled in a Sierra Leone village this year from funds raised last year!

Saidu was introduced by CEO Tanya Nace (World Hope International – Canada) who has been hosting his visit with churches and leaders in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Maine over the past two weeks. Saidu shared, “Your partnership in West Africa now provides access to clean water for more than 10K people in a context where water borne diseases are the 4th cause of death for children. In 2016, 1.5 million deaths were attributed directly to a lack of access to clean water.” Saidu concluded with this challenge, “Our God is a God of abundance. When we action our compassion, He works miracles!”

  • Last Sunday, Tanya and Saidu were at Cornerstone – Gatehouse (Denn Guptill) to thank them for the transformative partnership with Kenenday, Sierra Leone with trips to visit and the multi-year investment of  $163,927. The full details of this story are shared in this WesLife article (CLICK HERE) published in September.
Trunk-or-Treat Community Outreach

Connection (Sheryl York) took advantage of the season to connect with the community of Truro through the Trunk-or-Treat outreach pictured above.

  • Amherst Wesleyan (Evan Oxner) had about 450 kids through their Trunk-or-Treat with an estimated 1000 people including adults.
Encounter Weekend @ Kingswood University!

President Lennox shared, “We beat last year’s attendance with over 330 youth and sponsors from as far away as Ontario. Rev. Billy Robel did a great job sharing a message of grace, but also challenging us to live a life on purpose for God. At each rally, the altars were lined with students seeking God for more, including a call to ministry.”

Fall Beulah Session of Camp Board
Executive Director Tami Mutch-Ketch chaired another energizing meeting of the Beulah Session of the Camp Board this past week. The complexity of the operational effectiveness of Beulah Camp & Conference Center is so well served by the wise counsel of Camp Board members. It has been a welcome addition for Facilities & Maintenance Lead Wayne Clark to join this leadership team!
An Open Letter to the Next US President

We all lead our churches during times of civic leadership change, whether that is on a municipal, state/provincial, and/or federal level. Dr. James Emery White has an excellent reminder for us all as citizens of heaven when we find ourselves facing changes because of earthly elections.

  • The self that God persistently loves is not my prettied-up pretend self but my actual self—the real me. But, master of delusion that I am, I have trouble penetrating my web of self-deceptions and knowing this real me. I continually confuse it with some ideal self that I wish I were. (David Benner)
  • Left unchecked, not trusting someone can lead to not trusting anyone. (Lysa TerKeurst)
  • Denunciatory rhetoric is so much easier and cheaper than good works, and proves a popular temptation. Yet is it far better to light the candle than curse the darkness. (William Lonsdale Watkinson)

The Board of Trustees for Kingswood University convened in October with a special time of prayer for President Steve & Eileen Lennox as they prepare to enter retirement on June 30, 2025. A significant portion of our fall session involved the composition and approval of the necessary guiding documentation prescribed by our Presidential Succession Plan.

Our Christian Alternative for MAiD
  • Dying with Christ – Living with Hope presents a hope-filled perspective on a universal experience. The discussion, led by theologians and healthcare professionals, will give timeless perspectives on suffering, grief, dying, our duty to care, and how dying with Christ is attainable for everyone.

CMDA Canada is offering the opportunity to take Dying with Christ – Living with Hope with our team online. In addition to experiencing this life changing course, attending these sessions will equip you to run this program in your own local settings (i.e. church, community centre, or online venues). Each session will run for 2 hours with time for the video, reflection, and small group discussion.
