Atlantic Connexion

Eight smiling faces celebrated an incredible Sunday of baptisms with 180 in attendance at Amherst Wesleyan (Evan Oxner) – PTL! Evan added, “The stories shared and the sense of God’s presence created an electric environment filled with cheers, tears and stirred hearts.”

The church formerly known as Moncton Wesleyan celebrated the launch of its third Kingdom location (including the Miramichi Campus) with nearly 150 gathered this Sunday for the birth of Tidal – Shediac! The middle picture of the first-day launch team (about 40 people) was a proud and happy moment for Lead Pastor Jim Clements and Campus Pastor Austin White.

Emma Mullen awarded Rev. Arnold Stairs Scholarship!
Emma Mullen is a fourth year student preparing for ordained ministry in The Wesleyan Church from Weymouth, Nova Scotia. She is pictured with the incomparable Rev. Arnold Stairs during the annual Kingswood UniversityScholarship Dinner this past week Thursday (October 3rd).

  • Interesting fact: On October 3, 1945, the Holiness Bible Institute officially opened in Woodstock, NB.  Arnold Stairs was in that first class on opening day. Three years later, he was the first graduate from the Bible program in 1948 (which became Bethany Bible College and now Kingswood University). 79 years later he was honoured by the Atlantic District for 75 years of Ordained Ministry, with a named scholarship equal to 10% of full tuition for a deserving Pastoral Ministry student in the Ordination Track. This will be awarded to a deserving student each year for a total of five years.

Arnold preached a powerful message during this year’s Ordination Service in July at the Beulah Tabernacle where we were all reminded, “If you haven’t learned how to love people – you’re shipwrecked.” This Friday, he will be 98 years young. May the numbers of your tribe increase – we love and honour you, Arnold!

Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief Opportunity
Hurricane Helene made landfall on Thursday, September 26th leaving a wake of devastation in its path. World Hope International (Canada) is partnering directly with Wesleyan Churches and districts in the southeast United States to assist with urgent and immediate needs in their communities.
  • Jerry Lumston, District Superintendent of The North Carolina West District, shares, “Conditions are severe in many of the areas. Power has been out since Friday and some communities are receiving estimates for restoration that are in the 2-6 week range. Water treatment plants were overwhelmed and drinking water is a top priority. The situation is complicated by a lack of phone service and many are still unable to reach family and relatives to find out if they are okay.”

Meet Wendel & Yolie Etienne (and their son Hudson). They arrived in Burkina Faso five years ago and have served faithfully in providing leadership to the expansion of new Wesleyan Kingdom locations during their oversight of this work. God has opened a door for the next chapter of their ministry in the Democratic Republic of Congo as trainers at a missionary school for French-speaking African workers.
  • CLICK HERE to read the full story of this exciting day in which missionaries are being sent from “everywhere to everywhere” in preparing workers for the harvest in French speaking countries.
The Etienne’s only need $12K USD in support to complete their fundraising to relocate their family and fund the beginning of their ministry in the DRC. CLICK HERE to provide support for this strategic investment of their leadership in raising up new African missionaries for French people groups.

Congratulations to Curtlen and Victoria Peck (Digby Wesleyan) on the joyful arrival of Adelyn Milina Peck born October 5th @ 6:53pm weighing 9 lbs 1 oz. Dad shared, “Momma and baby are both happy and healthy!”
