Atlantic Connexion

This weekend was the 20th Anniversary of the Wharf Rat Rally in Digby (Andrew Maves). During the Maves’ first year of ministry there beginning in 2003, Andrew played a central role in the birth of this annual event and was heavily involved in the core leadership for many years. One of the highest years of impact registered more than 10,000 bikes over the course of the weekend and each year has provided a huge boost to the economy with thousands of visitors.
  • Digby Wesleyan has hosted the Blessing of the Bikes Service for the WWR with people coming to faith in Christ every year. And this year was no exception. On Sunday, four new names were written in the Lamb’s Book of Life – PTL!
As the church continues to grow in these days of miraculous healings and salvations, Andrew announced that later this month they will be adding a third weekend service. God’s presence in the worship and preaching of The Word was so palpable and powerful! Stay tuned – an exciting day of baptisms is scheduled for September 15th.

CLICK HERE for a great Facebook post by Director Dean Stephenson about a huge step forward this week on Caton’s Island. Special thanks to crew pictured with Dean above. These men did the heavily lifting to prepare for the demolition of the “Big House” as we prepare for the next phase of construction with a new building for administration, medical care, and much needed additional staff housing.
  • Only 38 to go to meet our 2025 Vision!
MEN! There’s still time to sign up for our Men’s Weekend from September 13-14th! We are so close to our goal of 2025 campers by the year 2025, and we only need 38 more men to sign up to make that goal! Share this with your friends, family, neighbours, and church family – all the information about RESOLUTE is listed below in Upcoming Events.

Raising Leaders for Greater Effectiveness

I was pleased to partner this week with Jim Clements (Moncton) as we shared in a few hours of leadership development with a variety of pastors serving all over the Atlantic District. We have a passionate cadre of leaders serving at every level of Kingdom influence and it is a joy to see their diligence as stewards of His call on their lives.

Young Adults Headed to College?

If you have students from your church that are heading to university or college this fall, you know that their faith will be tested in critical ways over the next number of months. The pressures they face could honestly end up breaking down the faith that they’ve built during their years in your church family.

  • But that doesn’t have to be the story. In fact, recent research shows that if someone from your church helps to build a bridge to Christian community in a student’s new town, the likelihood they’ll stay connected to the local church is doubled! It’s for that reason that Jeremy MacDonald (Moncton) has put together the resources to do that in a unique and special way — by inviting your graduating students to become Post-Secondary Missionaries. Sent from your church to their new communities.

Everything you need is located in this folder: https://bit.ly/3gnm7hU. You can also reach out to Jeremy with any questions or help you’d like with your youth ministry as his organization, the Youth Worker Community, is helping churches across our country better disciple students each week. He can be reached at jeremy@youthworker.community.

Here are the churches by location of some of our key universities/colleges in the region…

Mobilize the Church is partnering with The Wesleyan Church to offer four FREE cohorts this fall called “Mobilizing Disciple Makers.” This cohort has helped hundreds of pastors/leaders activate people for disciple-making. As you continue to determine next steps in your local church Meductic Mandate – this will be a golden opportunity to recalibrate and contextualize the best way for you to invite your local church family to experience a call to disciple-making in one of the four quadrants of our Acts 1:8 mandate.
  • Each cohort will meet weekly for 10 weeks (space is limited to the first 12 pastors/leaders in each time slot). You can register by CLICKING HERE and scrolling down to the appropriate cohort. Once you register, Jon Wiest will send next steps and updates as you prepare for the cohort. Feel free to email Jon if you have any questions (jwiest@mobilizethechurch.com).
