Atlantic Connexion

Outdoor baptism services were held at three different locations across the Southwest Nova network on Sunday afternoon. Yarmouth (AJ Plaizier) baptized 9 at Ellenwood Lake Provincial Park, Coastal (Jason Parker) baptized 10 at the Barrington causeway, and South (Tom Cann) baptized 5 at Brazil Lake, for a total of 24 baptisms! Praise God!

Nothing is sweeter for those of us in Kingdom leadership than leading our own children into the sacramental waters! Jason & Carolina Parker had the joy of baptizing their daughter, Charlotte – PTL!

  • Carolina shared, “Seeing her depth of understanding and that it is not a lighthearted decision but a symbol of how she wants to live the rest of her life for Jesus was so moving and made this Momma very proud.”
Five More Baptisms!

Five baptisms were celebrated at Cornerstone (Denn Guptill) this Sunday. All were kids or teens and there are more scheduled for next week!

  • Matt Maxwell (Journey) had the opportunity to preach last Sunday at Easton (Rich Thomas) where he and Suzanne had served for 14 years. CLICK HEREto join the prayer page for Easton Wesleyan and to enjoy the powerful heart of praise and gratitude captured in Rich’s post.
A Little Child Shall Lead Them…

Amherst (Evan Oxner) had Konnect Camp this week. Assistant Pastor Bradford Jordan shared, “We had 59 children and 12 made a first time decision to follow Jesus! and we even had one say they wanted to be baptized!”

Summer @ Beulah has been another welcome time of fellowship, connection with new friends, and times of worship. Executive Director Tami Mutch-Ketch effectively led another packed day for the Beulah Session of the Camp Board on Friday (lower right pic). Amongst other activities and services, the weekend also included a Volunteer Appreciation Corn Boil & BBQ as well as the 2nd Information Session providing detailed updates on Deferred Maintenance, the Review & Response Panel, and Phase Two of the Tabernacle Terrace. These are encouraging days of momentum and progress in District Camp Ministry.

Young Adults Headed to College?

If you have students from your church that are heading to university or college this fall, you know that their faith will be tested in critical ways over the next number of months. The pressures they face could honestly end up breaking down the faith that they’ve built during their years in your church family.

  • But that doesn’t have to be the story. In fact, recent research shows that if someone from your church helps to build a bridge to Christian community in a student’s new town, the likelihood they’ll stay connected to the local church is doubled! It’s for that reason that Jeremy MacDonald (Moncton) has put together the resources to do that in a unique and special way — by inviting your graduating students to become Post-Secondary Missionaries. Sent from your church to their new communities.

Everything you need is located in this folder: https://bit.ly/3gnm7hU. You can also reach out to Jeremy with any questions or help you’d like with your youth ministry as his organization, the Youth Worker Community, is helping churches across our country better disciple students each week. He can be reached at jeremy@youthworker.community.

Here are the churches by location of some of our key universities/colleges in the region…

– Fredericton: Corbett Avenue, Crosspoint, Journey
– Halifax: Cornerstone, Deep Water, Hillside, Kings
– Moncton: Moncton
– Presque Isle: Framework
– Sackville: Amherst
– Saint John: Kings, Saint John First
– St. John’s: Solid Rock
– Sussex: Encounter
– Wolfville: New Hope

I had the privilege this week of sharing in annual budgetary decisions with members of the General Board via Zoom. What made this rather perfunctory meeting special was not so much the content, but the presenter. On August 31st, Mr. Kevin Batman (lower right pic) will conclude 17 years of incredibly fruitful and faithful service as General Treasurer of the North American General Conference of The Wesleyan Church.

Our Wesleyan family has been enriched by his heart, secured by his financial expertise and fortified by his faith. He has served God and us exceedingly well. There is no one I served alongside during my seven years @ HQ with whom I share greater trust or for whom I hold in higher esteem.

  • Kevin, thank you for showing us what Kingdom servant leadership looks like at its finest. You are a statesman and churchman of the highest order. We are better because of you, and we will be forever grateful.

Why not take a moment to CLICK HERE and send Kevin a personal word of thanks? Let’s fill his inbox to overflowing during this final week with the double honour he so richly deserves!

Mobilize the Church is partnering with The Wesleyan Church to offer four FREE cohorts this fall called “Mobilizing Disciple Makers.” This cohort has helped hundreds of pastors/leaders activate people for disciple-making. As you continue to determine next steps in your local church Meductic Mandate – this will be a golden opportunity to recalibrate and contextualize the best way for you to invite your local church family to experience a call to disciple-making in one of the four quadrants of our Acts 1:8 mandate.
  • Each cohort will meet weekly for 10 weeks (space is limited to the first 12 pastors/leaders in each time slot). You can register by CLICKING HERE and scrolling down to the appropriate cohort. Once you register, Jon Wiest will send next steps and updates as you prepare for the cohort. Feel free to email Jon if you have any questions (jwiest@mobilizethechurch.com).
