Atlantic Connexion

This Sunday around 130 people from the Kentville and Kingston locations of New Hope (Scott Prime) gathered for their annual summer BBQ & Baptisms event to celebrate six baptisms as they enjoyed a delicious BBQ with corn and dessert.
  • Scott shared, “The day was filled with joy, fellowship, and humbling moments as we witnessed God’s transformative power at work in people’s lives. It was truly a remarkable day for the Kingdom!”

The Reach (Andy Phillips) followed up their SCUBA VBS week with a deep dive celebrating baptisms (top two pics). Andy shared, “We had a beautiful day to celebrate the work God is doing in two lives – what joy as the Church gathered to encourage and witness their belief in Jesus!”

  • Matthew Forrest (Connection) had the joy of baptizing Victoria (bottom left). Matt shared, “Victoria newly attends Deep Water and was working with me at a summer camp this week. I’ve had the privilege of teaching and working with her since she started going to camp almost 20 years ago!”

Brian Gilroy (Island) navigated low tide at the mouth of the Tryon River to lead a mother and son (bottom right) into the shallow waters of baptism on August 11th. Brian shared, “It was low tide and so we walked halfway out in the middle to get enough water to have both of them sit to allow for full immersion. God be praised!”

Lower Hainesville (Peggy Yetman) went all out for a big day on Saturday to celebrate their 135th Anniversary! The day began with a community yard sale ending with an anniversary cake before the afternoon concert. Two hours flew by as songs and testimonies filled the afternoon for the nearly 60 who gathered to give praise for how God has been at work with words shared from several former pastoral teams including Scott Lewis (13 years), Carl & Evelyn Brewer (6 years), and Diane Hutchinson (3 years).

Following a delicious potluck dinner and silent auction dessert, a closing rally concluded this exciting day! One of Peggy’s strong supporters send me this note with permission to share, “I can see the progress and difference Pastor Peggy is making not only with the Church, but within the community as well. Her brilliance, creativity, love and kindness do not go unnoticed and are just what it takes to rejuvenate this Church and area. I know she does – and will continue to – use all these gifts with the help of her LHWC team to do just that.” Well done, Peggy!

It was a special Friday night on Caton’s Island. Director Dean Stephenson and his team planned an evening full of honour and surprises for Amy Vail with about 60 full-time staff and a few extra guests. She knew something was up when several close friends and former senior staff members appeared at the beginning of the smoked brisket dinner. Amy has served sacrificially for 19 summers and is concluding her role this summer – simply incredible! And this has included work during nearly every winter in planning and staffing alongside Dean.
  • The evening included a number of speeches and a touching video filled with greetings from co-workers who have served with her down through the years. Dean choked up as he shared, “For the first time ever, this summer Caton’s is now the largest Summer Camp in Eastern Canada and I could never have seen this happen without Amy!”
Apart from Dean & Carol, no other person has invested this level of influence for just shy of two decades. Amy’s love and commitment will continue as a Camp Board Member. We are blessed by leaders like Amy – thank you for everything you have done!
New Lead Pastor Orientation @ Heartland
It was an enjoyable two-days at Caton’s & Beulah on Wednesday & Thursday as our five Lead Pastors with new assignments gathered with some family to take part in our annual New Lead Pastor Orientation. It is encouraging to sense the deep commitment each of these leaders has for their new Kingdom assignment. A bright chapter of new beginnings for transformed lives is on the immediate horizon for each of these blessed churches and communities.
Annual Service Reports Reviewed
Dale MacDonald convened the annual review of ASR’s by the DBMD Executive this Wednesday. This is always a meaningful time of celebrating the growth of our leaders and seeking wisdom to serve the unique challenges we all face from time to time in our ministerial journey.
Childcare Planning Session for District Ministerial

Earlier this summer, planning began for onsite childcare during the Atlantic Soul Care Conference on October 22-24 at Glad Tidings Church in Moncton. Special thanks to Jennie Baker, Liz Hoyt, & Vienna McAllister for getting our house in order to make this a meaningful journey for those who could not easily attend without this important ministry.

  • Each cohort will meet weekly for 10 weeks (space is limited to the first 12 pastors/leaders in each time slot). You can register by CLICKING HERE and scrolling down to the appropriate cohort.
