Journey (Matt Maxwell) celebrated four baptisms this Sunday – PTL! So much joy in the house of the Lord. Discipleship & Leadership Pastor Matt Palmer shared, “It was powerful and included one who had just recently given his life to Christ!” Over the past two years 35 people have entered the waters of baptism @ Journey and this year they have already seen 12 receive this sacrament in the first third of the church fiscal year – exciting days – God is at work.
  • Moncton (Jim Clements) celebrated a special baptism as Worship & Creative Arts Pastor Aaron Bartlett baptized his daughter Victoria – nothing sweeter for those of us in ministry leadership! On the first Sunday of August it was announced that Samuel (Joanna) Prime will be starting this month as Campus Pastor of Miramichi and Co-Youth Pastor. Austin White will be Co-Youth Pastor and was announced as Campus Pastor for the Shediac location launching this fall.
Scuba VBS @ The Reach (Andy Phillips) was a deep dive into knowing God as our friend!  Andy shared, “We averaged around 30 kids each day and had 90+ people attend the cookout and closing program on Friday evening! Pray for seeds of the Gospel to grow.”
Mobilize the Church is partnering with The Wesleyan Church to offer four FREE cohorts this fall called “Mobilizing Disciple Makers.” This cohort has helped hundreds of pastors/leaders activate people for disciple-making. As you continue to determine next steps in your local church Meductic Mandate – this will be a golden opportunity to recalibrate and contextualize the best way for you to invite your local church family to experience a call to disciple-making in one of the four quadrants of our Acts 1:8 mandate.
  • Each cohort will meet weekly for 10 weeks (space is limited to the first 12 pastors/leaders in each time slot). You can register by CLICKING HERE and scrolling down to the appropriate cohort. Once you register, Jon Wiest will send next steps and updates as you prepare for the cohort. Feel free to email Jon if you have any questions (jwiest@mobilizethechurch.com).
Raising Leaders in Liberia
Our Wesleyan Bible college in Liberia has specifically requested financial support from those of us in Canada/Maine, as they seek to address some serious challenges they are facing. This week we learned the Bible college is in very real jeopardy of not opening for the fall semester unless they receive some help. Global Partners is aware of the urgent needs, and it is important to note that many of their teachers and administrators have not drawn a salary for many months in order to be helpful to the school.

Providing formal educational opportunities for our international pastors is a genuine priority for the denomination. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to make a positive contribution to helping fellow Wesleyan pastors in Liberia, gain valuable ministerial training. If your church is able to make a contribution, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be made through our national webpage: www.wesleyan.ca/donate/ (see giving option: Liberia Bible college). Maine Churches may give directly to Global Partners (CLICK HERE).

This past Wednesday a large gathering joined the Mullen family to celebrate a Service of Gratitude & Remembrance in the Beulah Tabernacle for Vesta Mullen. Following the interment, all were invited to join the Mullen family for a luncheon in the Beulah Hotel. An open mic presented opportunity for many thoughtful memories to be shared, concluding with words from her dear husband of 73 years, Laurence followed by a closing prayer from Steve Bradley.

  • Our district family has been deeply blessed by the life and ongoing legacy Vesta has provided through her work, The Communion of Saints, and the incredible repository of our spiritual roots in the Mullen Heritage Archives.
  • Act, don’t react. Don’t ever let someone else determine how you will treat them. (Vesta Mullen)
  • 10,000 years from now, when we know what God knows, we will not accuse Him of anything except that He has always been faithful. (Garret Kell)
  • To live for God, we must live with God. (James Emery White)
