Early Thursday afternoon, our dear sister-in-Christ, Mrs. Vesta Mullen slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus as Laurence and loved ones were singing hymns of the faith. Ellen joins me in expressing our heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Atlantic District for Laurence, the families of their children – Shirley (Paul), Barbara (Richard), Andrew (Jana), and James (Darice) – and to all of the extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 19th at Houghton Wesleyan Churchand will also be available to attend via livestream. CLICK HERE to access the YouTube Channel of Houghton Wesleyan Church. A second memorial will be held at a TBD date in August at Beulah Camp.
- Vesta’s favourite place on planet Earth was Beulah Camp. Until the pandemic, she attended every consecutive year of her long and blessed life. She set a remarkable record of 92 years running. As we gather for Beulah Family Camp days there have been countless conversations about the impact of her life, not the least being her incredible investment as a labour of love in providing us The Communion of Saints, an exhaustive record of all the clergy who served in our Reformed Baptist antecedent tribe.
As we gather at Beulah this week, Vesta is in sweet communion and reunion with many of these saints who have already joined the great cloud of witnesses. Brother Laurence, our deepest love and fervent prayers will be offered for you and your family as you grieve and as you celebrate a life well-lived and well-loved. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. (Psalm 116:15)
Additional CondolencesEllen & I also share in district condolences for two others grieving in our ministerial family.
