Monday Again

Special Notice: The funeral of Rev. Bill Moore, father of our Assistant DS Peter Moore, will take place today at 2 PM at Fredericton Journey Wesleyan. As a result, our District Office will be closed all day today – Monday. We will reopen for our regular hours tomorrow.

Bangor The River held their first indoor baptism last week. They have recently acquired a portable baptismal tank and initiated it with the baptism of three people. Onward and upward!

  • Mike Agrell received a very positive vote for an initial two-year call as Lead Pastor from the Maple Ridge church yesterday. Mike says “we are glad to accept.” Congrats!
  • Matt Fahringer resigned his position as Pastor of Student Ministries at Fredericton Corbett Ave yesterday and will be seeking a new assignment.
  • Brent Ingersoll was present last week at a meeting in Atlanta for the DS’s and selected larger church pastors called by the GS to discuss and pray over UNLEASHED  – a vision to see The Wesleyan Church become a movement. Peter was en route to this same meeting when called back home due to his dad’s rather sudden health decline. Watch for more later re UNLEASHED.
  • AJ Plaizier is part of a Compassion Canada mission trip to Mexico that began on Saturday and lasts for one week.
  • I met last Monday with the Search Committee at Moncton and will meet with them again this evening.

Kingswood’s VP for Communications and Enrolment Brittany Trafton taught at Deep Water Church for their series entitled “Seminary Saturdays.” She answered the question: “How do we understand the OT law, and how should it influence our lives today?”

The office was closed for two days last week due to two snow-bomb storms within three days. The Maritimes are magnificent even in a snow storm (and spring is coming!)

Special Note for Pastors Who Attended the Recent Ministerial from ADS Peter Moore.
Subject Line: Registration – Retreat to Advance (Beulah Camp – Feb 27 – Mar 1)
Please REGISTER for the Retreat to Advance by email (karrilee@www.atlanticdistrict.com) on or before Tuesday, February 21st.
To further serve your development as a minister, the district is providing an optional retreat to create space and support for you to apply the teaching at our February Ministerial in your own leadership and ministry.  This will be a time when you can prayerfully process how the teaching re: Soul Care for the Undershepherd may recalibrate your own practices/rhythms of ministry for greater fulfillment and fruitfulness. This 48-hour Retreat to Advance will occur at Beulah Camp beginning with a supper meal on Monday, February 27th and concluding with lunch on March 1st.  There will be no direct cost for attending this retreat apart from your time and travel.  The district will provide accommodation and meals for all those who preregister on or before February 21st.  Spouses are welcome to attend (no childcare) – please indicate their attendance in your email.
The Retreat to Advance will be led by Dr. David Higle (E&CD) & Laura Zigler (Coastal Community) who have both received training and certification in the ministry of Spiritual Direction through an interdenominational organization called Sustainable Faith in Indianapolis (www.sustainablefaithindy.com).  The vast majority of the schedule will allow for solitude, prayer, fasting (as you choose), and in general engaging the contemplative disciplines of our faith.  There will be a few teaching sessions and an opportunity to schedule an appointment for spiritual direction with either Dave or Laura during this retreat.
